The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was listed as the UK's "best-loved novel", by BBC. It is definitely one of Conan Doyle's finest detective novels and a great introduction to the master detective, Sherlock Holmes. The
story begins with a visit from a certain, Dr. Mortimer, who tells the detective about of the death of his friend, Sir Charles Baskerville, under mysterious circumstance and suggests that he had been the victim of a ghostly hound, believed to haunt his family because of an old curse. Sherlock Holmes does not believe in the supernatural. He is convinced that it is a murder. So with the aid of his friend Dr. Watson, he sets off to solve the mystery. The Hound of the Baskervilles is as enjoyable to todays readers as it was, more than 100 years ago when it was written.
